The route is particularly well-known for tracing the Wakhan Corridor, a narrow strip of land in Afghanistan, and incredible views of the Hindu Kush mountains.

To drive the Pamir Highway, start in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, and follow the route toward Osh, Kyrgyzstan, or vice versa. Due to the challenging terrain and unpredictable weather, a 4×4 vehicle is essential, and hiring an experienced local driver is recommended.
