Tea With The Royal Family
Tea With The Royal Family
What: High tea with the princes of the Principality of Sealand
When: Whenever you can pull this feat off
Where: Principality of Sealand
Description:
Having tea with the Royal Family of Sealand is one of the most exclusive and elusive experiences in the world. Sealand, a self-proclaimed independent micronation since 1967, is a former World War II sea fort located off the coast of England. Though it is not officially recognized by any country, it has maintained its own royal family, flag, currency, and national anthem.
Meeting the Princes of Sealand, such as Prince Michael or his sons, Prince William or Liam of Sealand, is not an experience easily arranged. Those who manage to secure an invitation can expect to hear fascinating stories about Sealand’s defiance, legal battles, and legendary pirate radio connections, all while enjoying traditional high tea in one of the world’s most unusual “nations.”
How to Experience It:
There is no official way to secure a tea invitation with the Sealand Royal Family, but those who have succeeded often have strong media, diplomatic, or historical connections to Sealand. If you do manage to pull this off, expect a truly one-of-a-kind experience in one of the world’s most mysterious micronations. Expect to take an hour long boat ride from Harwich to Sealand or for OG ballers, you may take a helicopter.
