The event is centered around mystical tattoo traditions, in which Buddhist monks and master tattooists engrave protective geometric designs and animal symbols onto the skin using long metal rods that date back centuries.

During the ceremony, participants enter trancelike states, believed to be moments of spiritual possession by the power of their tattoos. Many begin to mimic the movements of their Sak Yant’s animal spirit, running, growling, or collapsing in ecstatic states before being calmed by temple monks. This ritual is a powerful testament to the fusion of Buddhist beliefs, animism, and ancient warrior traditions that define Sak Yant culture.
